Art Cave
I had the privilege to work from one of the most amazing art studio hubs in Long Beach, CA. Thanks to my art mentor Katie P. from www.katiephillips.art (IG: katiepdesign) I was able to work on my art while surrounded by amazing artists and art. It was a taste of what can potentially be my home in the future. Or if I'm lucky, maybe create my own.
Located on 1000 New York St in Long Beach CA, this building was built in the 1920s. Rich with it's history as a bomb shelter/warehouse and at a time, residential units. It was converted to an Art loft for the past decade serving musicians, visual artists, photographers and creators. Who may have walked through its halls only adds to its remarkable history.
What makes it so unique while I was there? I never felt alone. I was sharing my space with talented artists, its amazing collection of art hanging on every wall and the comradery between everyone. It was a true art studio. It felt exclusive, not just anyone could walk in, it was by appointment or invite that someone can come and visit or other artists could be inspired from.
The lobby always had a great display of recent works and every month an art conference would be held hosted by talented local or visiting artists. I miss this place, but it feels amazing to know that I was part of it, and if I'm lucky, an asterisk, "Raphael Anthony was here."
